Urenko debuts its maiden collection. Taking inspiration from the Tangram and the movie Blade Runner, the collection emphasizes on minimalistic geometric silhouette in a palette of greys and army greens.

Runway Addict (R.A) managed to get an exclusive interview with, Nicolás Bertolo, Creative Director of Urenko, on his inspirations and future plans.

Tell me more about yourself and your journey to becoming a fashion designer.

I was born and raised in Buenos Aires, Argentina. I always love designing ever since I was a kid. Graduating from high school, I was not encouraged to pursue fashion design and took up psychology but instead of attending classes I would sneak into design lectures where they conduct case studies on fashion. My interest in fashion and design grew overtime leading me to create my own clothes, motivating me to create my own line.

Who/What inspires you?

I’m inspired by shapes and geometrics in architecture, the deconstruction of geometry more than anything triangle. I always look for a concept when creating a line. Studying the design of The Bauhaus School in college, gave great inspiration to my first collection.

Will there be a signature style in future collections?

I think style is something that builds up over the years, for now I try to build a post-apocalyptic vision that incorporates with imperturbable style, focusing beauty in a coarse, cold, austere manner.

Where do you see Urenko in future?

I would love to work on not only clothes but shoes, bags and accessories as well. Showcasing my designs on international runways and working with other fashion houses. I love challenges and by collaborating with other designers it will give me the opportunity to open my mind into different concepts and ideas for enhancing my skills in designing future collections.
